New Seat Alhambra Review
Originally designed as a collaboration between VW and Ford, the Seat Alhambra has to some extent become the forgotten sister to the Sharan and the Galaxy and this really is a shame, especially when it comes to the price. Built on the same platform as its siblings in the same factory in Portugal, the Alhambra may not have the image that goes with the VW or Ford badges, but it is without doubt the cheapest way to join this MPV party. Not only is the Alhambra cheaper than its rivals, amazingly, according to what car, the Alhambra has stronger residual values after a three-year period than both the VW and the Ford.
Models have been trimmed from the range in recent years and the choice is now limited to a single 2.0 litre petrol engine or a choice of either a 1.9 litre or 2.0 litre diesel unit. However all Alhambra models are well equipped - even the basic specification Reference models come complete with air-conditioning, front electric windows, a CD player and remote central locking. If you move up to the Stylance trim level you can add cruise control, climate control, alloy wheels and rear electric windows to the list.
So if you need a seven seater MPV with a lot of the attributes of the Sharan, but without the hefty price tag, take a long hard look at the Alhambra, you won't be disappointed.
