New Volkswagen Touran Review
Winner of the What car, car of the year in the compact MPV category the Volkswagen Touran is a car that takes the safety of you and your family extremely seriously, with six airbags, preparation for two child seats, anti lock braking system (ABS), and Volkswagens electronic stability programme (ESP), all coming as standard, plus the fact that Volkswagen have used laser welding in the building of this vehicle its no surprise that the Volkswagen Touran scores a fantastic five out of five in the Euro ncap safety ratings.
Entry level on the Volkswagen Touran is the S model, standard features on this model include, semi automatic air conditioning, cruise control, driver and passenger airbags, curtain airbags, front seat side impact airbags, electric, heated and adjustable door mirrors, radio with single CD player, engine immobiliser and remote central locking.
Above the Volkswagen Touran S model comes the Volkswagen Touran SE, 16" Imola alloys, electric windows in both the back and the front, radio CD player with eight speakers (four in the front and four in the rear), front centre armrest with a storage compartment, front comfort seats with height and lumbar adjustment, climatic semi auto controlled air conditioning, alarm, black roof rails and Body coloured side bump strips and door handles all are fitted as standard.
Top of the shop in the Volkswagen Touran range is the Sport, 16" Mugello alloy wheels, 35% Tinted glass from B-pillar back, climate control air conditioning, carpet mats in both the front and the rear, Front sports seats with Lumbar adjustment, Leather rimmed steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake grip, front fog lights and chrome roof rails all combine to make the Volkswagen Touran Sport the flagship of the Volkswagen Touran range.
All Volkswagen Touran models come with the option of either five or seven seats (the new Touran only has the seven seat option), the seven seater has another row of seats that can be folded flat when not in use and with the seven seat option available at no cost it's no wonder the bulk of Volkswagen Touran sales are for this option. If you have a couple of days to spare you can always try and work out the five hundred different seating combinations of the Touran, but one useful one is with the seats folded flat into the floor and the rear set removed to give an impressive 1,913 litres of load space, even with all seven seats in place the Volkswagen Touran can still accommodate 121 litres.
With a choice of petrol and diesel engines available in the Volkswagen Touran ranging from 90 ps up to 150 ps, manual, automatic and direct shift gearboxes (DSG), you should be able to find a Volkswagen Touran to meet all your families needs.
